Stage 4: Stripping the Chassis
With the body scanned, the initial plan drawn out, and the drivetrain removed, our team moved on to the disassembly of the chassis. For over a week, we stripped the vehicle down to its bare shell. Similar to the engine-design process, every component was isolated, examined, and weighed, including all accessory parts. Even in its naked, skeletal form, it was hard not to appreciate the sheer genius and beauty of the Ferrari design. At this point, the machine is unrecognizable as a vehicle. Like lumps of clay in the den of an artist, the individual parts were now ready to be studied and molded into a work of art.
